I was talking with my son last night about the old days. When I went to college in the late 70's at University of Rhode Island, it was the #2 party school in the country. Man, as a freshman it was easy to see why. So last night my son looks up this years top party schools to see where URI and UMass (the school he went to) ranked.

Syracuse - #1
So I must ask, is it obvious?
Not really. You have some that may party starting on Thursday night and those that go out/party on a Friday and/or Saturday night in the East neighborhood, but I don't know about Syracuse University being #1 in terms of being a party school. There is MayFest/Block Party and Juice Jam, but both are actually pretty structured parties with a strong public safety presence. There really isn't a big tailgate culture like you would see at the major state universities. There is a good sized Greek scene on campus and a couple of bars nearby on Marshall Street.
I went to 2 colleges I'd say that has/had a bigger party reputation when I attended them.
