Is anyone aware of any breed-specific legislation in towns in the Syracuse area? I recently accepted a job offer and will be moving up in June with my 4 year old pitbull. My dog is the sweetest, most loving and friendly dog. I want to make sure that I move to an area that will have no problems with her being there, as I would never give her up. Thanks!

Auburn tried to pass BSL, but it was voted down if I recall correctly. I don't believe there are any areas near here where BSL will be an issue. I know a few places will not adopt out to those who live in the city limits, but there are no shortages of pit bulls in the city.

Thank you for being a responsible pit bull owner.

There is occasional chatter of banning :aggressive breeds", here in Manlius, but it's always quieted. Leash laws protect the owners too, AS LONG AS they are followed.

I don't think you'll have a problem.

Thank you for the information! I'm always careful to follow leash laws, keep her licensed, etc. I'm looking forward to my move!

If you're a renter, I think the only potential issue you may run into is landlords whose insurance may not cover pitbulls as many insurance agencies classify them (among others) as "dangerous dogs." But that is on an individual basis.
