I was driving down Genesee St. yesterday and there is a lot of road work going on. Part of the roadwork is new sidewalks and curbs. It will make Camillus much more walkable. There is a lot of construction going on around there too. A new pain management doctor, a Wendy's, McDonalds, and Delta Sonic.
I know that West Genesee is a bigger suburban school district, but it is quietly developing nicely like you mentioned. I was surprised that parts of the town lost people, but as Township 5 and more infrastructure comes along, I think it is the next town, as well as parts of Geddes and Onondaga near it will grow.
Yes, and young teens can visit the Townshop for activities..an award
winning Youth Center.
Kayaking, concerts, cross cty skiing, volunteering groups to horse rescue feeding every Sat,
to helping at soup kitchens, open mike poetry and music, whale watching trips
to Cape Cod...a 3 story building with ping pong, pool tables, parents welcome for
meet and greets.
(Strict rules...if you even smell of alcohol or pot...you could even be banned
But apologizes are accepted...)
VERY kind people in charge.
I drove by the youth center today and it looks like it has moved or is just gone. Do you know what happened to it?
4600 West Genesee Street. Right on the main street in the village, next to Krabby Kirks.
Ok, I know where it is.
What is odd is that the village of Camillus seems like a forgotten village in the area, when it could be a nice community that has the bones to be a nice, walkable place to live. It isn't bad, but it could be better and a happy medium between suburban and rural. It close to big box shopping and maybe once Township 5 gets finish(some day), it might get more interest.
