Anyone know why a Lockheed EP-3 United States Navy Airplane was circling the northern suburbs of Syracuse for nearly 3 hours straight this evening?
Anyone else see it? I took a photo of it:
It was flying low. Two times it flew so low over me that I could read the Navy on the side rear of the plane. This is the second time in the last month that this plane has flown around my neighborhood repeatedly.
The Lockheed EP-3 is flying around my neighborhood again right now. It flew directly over my house two times very, very low and as soon as it passed my neighborhood it turned toward Onondaga Lake and came back around again. It's been circling for at least the past 45 minutes.
Again, I ask, what is a Navy surveillance/spy plane doing flying so low over a residential neighborhood in the middle of suburbia?
Testing? Spying on you? Spying on you to test out equipment?
You never know!
I tried doing research on it yet couldn't find any detailed info about what it specifically does or what it is used for in the Navy. Let alone why it would be flying over an American city. Seems like a "top secret" high tech plane....
Lockheed-Martin has a development area and lab in Liverpool where they work on various radar, guidance and detection systems for the US Navy. In some cases the work is done elsewhere and testing is done in Syracuse due to the facilities available etc. Sure looks like Navy testing to me. You're sure they weren't looking for marijuana plants in people's back yards? :-)
I think they're doing some missle defense activities, a.k.a. wargames
