Hi. We are thinking about retiring back to Tallahassee. Spent 25 + years there, bringing up children. Great place to bring up children IMHO if you are careful about schools. Moved away for a job about 10 years ago to s.w. Florida area. Now that Covid hit and we are nearing retirement age thinking about coming back to retire because that is where our kid is and we still have friends there. Tallahassee has changed in the 10 years we have been away (with frequent trips up there). Some of the area we are looking at are canopy, piney z, Camilla oaks, softwood and the area around midtown/betton. of the developments that were named, does anyone know how bad (strict) the HOA's are (we lived in Killearn Estates and it was very loose compared to some) and how friendly are the areas? I may be working p.t. We will be involved probably with some activities. I do like low maintenance and a pool at my disposal to use. any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. thanks

everyone stay well and stay safe

All of the areas mentioned are great areas. Camilla oaks is brand new I think, and Southwood I think has one of the more strict HOA’s.

If it was me choosing I would pick midtown/Betton because it is beautiful and close to everything.

I don’t think you can go wrong with coming back to Tally, it sure beats the rest of the state where over development and traffic are everywhere.
