Going to this Wednesdays game. Will be in town and I know some stadiums withhold a small % of good seats for people who show up in person at the gate. Anyone know if this is the case at the Trop? If so, what time do they start selling tickets, the game's at 7:10pm? Is parking free when it opens to buy tickets? Tried looking at the Ray site and not finding any relevant info...

You will find seats, but not choice seats. Especially for the Sox or the Yanks.

The Rays charge a little extra, not sure the exact % for same-day tickets - sounds stupid to me, especially for a team whining about not having good attendance.

Stub hub.com and Ebay often sell tickets - sometimes you can have get e-tickets so you don't have to worry about mail delivery. There's a surcharge a lot of times as well, depending on the seller.

Parking is free when you have more than 4 passengers, I believe. You can find parking for $5-10 in walking distance. Maybe more since everyone seems to scalp/gouge when the Yankees, Bosox visit.

Another option is to watch the game at a sportsbar.

BTW, if you get there very early, you can just drive up close to the ticket window. But probably 3-4 hrs short of the first pitch, you'll have to pay for parking.

thanks for the info. As it turns out they do not "release" additional tickets same day. There are LOTS of scalpers who want to buy your tickets below face value and also sell tickets.

Don't buy any of the hype, especially from some mean-looking dude holding 50 soon-to-be-worthless tickets at 7 pm. You can get really cheap tickets by looking at Craigslist and Stubhub the day of the game or scalping outside the Trop right before the game starts. I have not paid more than $20 for field box tickets (including the recent series with Boston) with this strategy. Upper deck tix can also be had for $5-10 each at game time from people selling extras.

If you really want to annoy a scalper, stand near him and when someone steps up to sell extra tickets, outbid him. I've seen them pay $10 for good field box tickets and then turn around and try to sell them for $50.
