I just purchased a new thermostat to automate what I have been doing manually. That said, in the current weather, I've been keeping the house at 77 during the day, and 75 at night. I work from home, so my temperatures might be different than someone who works during the day.

What do other people do?

We have 2 zone heat & a/c. One zone is the new large MBR suite; the other zone covers living areas such as LR, DR, K and office.

We also have ceiling fans in every room.

Daytime we set the MBR at 83, living area at 79.
Nights we set the MBR at 77, living area at 83.

78 all day long.

Have solar guard on the west side windows to help manage the afternoon heat blast that occurs during the summer months. Seems to help along w/ the blinds.

Yes, blinds are important for managing solar heat...we get a lot of passive solar in the winter that lets us keep themostat lower than if we didn't. In summer, there are a few rooms that we keep blinds drawn daytimes.

80 when not home, 77 during the day, 72 or 73 at night. Just moved into a new home with low-E windows and variable speed a/c compressors. The windows have made such a massive difference; even in direct sun it's barely warm on the inside. The a/c rarely runs at more than 30% capacity so you don't even hear it turning on and off. Can't get over how big a difference these windows have made from a comfort perspective.

I can't get my bedroom below 80 at nite. Just way too much sunshine and heat where i live. Plus i have amps , big plasma tv and computers going. I had to buy a portable A/C unit to get my room below 82. I just blast it for about 20 mins just before bed to get the room to 80.
