Btw house is not trance as they are two different styles. Trance is much more popular as it has vocal and easy going beat, great for dancing. Tiesto and pretty much majority of well known Dj's play trance. House on the other hand in general has a little less vocal and much "heavier" beat. Dj Dan comes to mind from house music. Most people use 'techno' as description of majority of electronic music. David Guetta also has quite a few songs that act like a bridge between top 40 and trance/house

Just my .02
I haven't heard this 98.3 station - but I think they're in Lakeland. If you have a good enough antenna, you can hear some Central FL stations in the Tampa Bay area - even in St. Pete.

If you're looking for dance music, you might want to see if you can get 100.1 out of Ft. Myers. I can hear it most mornings. Depends on your location and antenna. Never had a problem hearing them toward the southern part of Pinellas. I haven't heard them play Tiesto - but that kind of music got a lot of airplay years ago in Miami. Wish we had that up here.

NPR is just as controlled and contrived as the propaganda Fox spews out.
And if you believe NPR is non-corporate I have some nice swamp land I can sell you.

You are not likely to find much real news on AM/FM radio.

NPR is a nonprofit radio station. They have no political ties and present a pretty even perspective. Left-wingers consider them too conservative and corporate, while right-wingers consider them too liberal. That leads me to believe it's a pretty good source. It is much better than the crap on TV.

Don't listen to NPR then (though I'm betting you never have). A lot of us don't want to hear endless ads and the same music rotation every 2 hours. A lot of us don't trust a "news" source that is owned by a multi-national corporation and gives contributions to a certain political party only.
Personally, the ONLY news I watch/listen to is NPR or BBC.
To each their own, live and let live, etc....

I listen to a variety of radio stations, and switch around depending on which one has the best song playing. You should note that I like to listen to rock, alternative, and the new main-stream songs.

93.3 FLZ - Seems to be the most popular radio station here, and many young people like it. However, it is not my favorite radio station. They play some songs I like, but they also play a good majority of songs I absolutely can not stand. This station is mainly the new, mainstream music. I probably listen to this station 10% of the time.

94.9 Magic - This is a mix of new mainstream songs, and old songs (from the 90s, 80s, etc.). It is mostly new songs, though. It plays a variety of different genres of music. I probably listen to this station 10% of the time.

97.1 X - This station plays rock songs. Mainly just the newer rock songs. Pretty good station. I recommend it. I probably listen to this station 25% of the time.

97.9 Rock - This station is very similar to 97.1. It plays basically newer rock songs. However, they just don't play as many rock songs I like as 97.1 does. However, different people like different songs, so if you like rock songs, don't tune this station out. Give it a shot. I probably listen to this station 5% of the time.

98.7 Play - Their slogan probably describes themselves the best: "Today's best hits without the rap." This is my favorite station, and I like a very high majority of the songs they play. I probably listen to this 30% of the time.

100.7 Mix - Pretty much just like 94.9. Variety music from all different time periods, but mostly just newer music. Good station. I probably listen to this station 15% of the time.

Other stations - During the rare times none of the above stations have good songs or have commercials playing, I'll find something to listen to on another station. Probably about 5% of the time.

As you can see, I flip around my radio a lot.

The OP might want to go to WMNF's (88.5) web site and check out their schedule. They play a little of everything from bluegrass to psychedelia.

WMNF 88.5 FM Community Radio, Tampa

I love NPR! Hey, didn't you write an ad one time about moving to Portland? I think I remember you.

NPR has the best information I would say. It beats Fox news/MSNBC indefinitely even though some say they have a sheep following to them which people complain about NPR that they do. Its more reliable, and the music kicks ass. Any station that plays great music, are the ones I will take as a reliable source even with their news rather than some Neocon channel playing Back in black in the background talking about socialism.
Alex Jones I think is better than some, but still can't take him extremely serious too.

NPR is a lot better to listen to than some things though. The problem I have with NPR is it gets repetitive just like anything else. It can be like Groundhog Day listening to it day in and day out. Musicwise though, NPR is great.

NPR pledges money from people, they ARE non profit. They depend on others contributions.

Exactly! I am between those spectrums. I am not too far right or too far left and I like NPR.. it just gets repetitive sometimes listening to the news when it feels like the same thing day in and day out, but would take their word over the others when I do listen. It beats the crap on TV surely. Even Alex Jones beats Fox News, but NPR is #1 to me.
