People ***** and moan about not wanting to pay taxes, and then ***** when they raise the fees to break even on stuff like parks. Believe it or not, Pinellas County has one of the best Parks systems in the state. They kick the crap out of Hillsborough County's parks, which are run on a shoestring budget and seem to be more about day care now than recreation...

I still believe the increase is ridiculous high...from zero to $5.00 is very high since I heard on the radio that is just for parking on top of the toll that also would be higher...

We used to go for less than 2 hours with the dogs...I guess we hardly will do that and do something else with the dogs...

If it was that we would stay for an entire day, that would be different...

It's about the lowest they could realistically charge. They would lose money if they had it too low. 5$ is about what they charge for state parks.

I dont know if they are going to have a human there taking the money or electronic system. NEITHER is free...

There is a reason HUMAN toll collectors are disappearing on toll roads. Not sure if this would work for a park or not.

If you dont like it, simple... dont go. Most teabaggers are in favor of "the market" setting the price of things, let's see if it does here or not.

Was talking to a toll collector on the Sun Coast Parkway, evidently the powers that be are going to tear down the toll booths and go with Sunpass entirely..Those visitors without a SunPass will get a bill in the mail..

The round-trip transportation costs to get to Ft. DeSoto for over 95% of the Tampa Bay area is already higher than $5, so this is a moot point. Believe it or not, tourists come from around the country to go there. So people are already paying good money to spend their time at Ft. DeSoto. A few extra dollars to actually keep the park operating is nothing.

I am forced to pay over $300 a year to the Suncoast Transit Authority and don't use it at all. A whopping $5 to go to one of the greatest beaches in the country? Are you kidding me?

they say no charge for walking or bikers on the causeway, dogs not allowed just before the beach parking area any way. just on the causeway that way you can walk your dogs and not pay for any of the upkeep for your using the park, as you said early the disabled will not have to pay so this way you will also get in free. sounds like a winner for ya
