I just moved to Dunedin and I'm trying to find the best/closest beaches. I checked out Honeymoon Island, but the rocky shores made the water unpleasant to swim in. Clearwater is nice, but is there anything closer?

Did you go to Honeymoon Island or Dunedin beach? Caledesi has beautiful beaches but it isn't easy to walk there. Fred Howard Park is not too far but the beach is similar to Honeymoon.

You might want to go a little further north to Redington beach. Not as crowded as Clearwater and they do have public walk through and parking on the street

When I was at Honeymoon Island the first time, I thought the beach was great but it was high tide...

I went back at low tide and saw all the rocks that had been covered. It was like a different place! The main part of the beach on the south is extremely wide and shallow, though, and has no rocks.
