My girl and I like to go out and have some fun, which often includes a few drinks. Sometimes it is quite a few drinks. However, we don't drink and drive.

Besides taking a cab (which would cost us about $30 from South Tampa one way), we like to drive to the place/area we are going to enjoy and leave a vehicle overnight. We take a cab home and then get our vehicle the next day with our 2nd vehicle.

Is there anywhere to park overnight in these areas that is safe? We wanted to try Ybor since we haven't been there since we moved here, but thought of parking in Channelside and taking the trolley there just for the fun of it.

Any thoughts? Or is a cab ride pretty much the only way? Knowing $60 is already gone before you start your night is kind of a buzz kill.

Surely everyone partying in Channelside or Ybor doesn't live in walking distance, right?

I think there are parking decks near Ybor, maybe Channelside too. Or could you park at the nearest 24-hour Walmart and catch a bus? Thanks for not driving drunk.

I'm from a town nearby and was in Ybor over the weekend. We saw lots of people using the trolley, but i'm not sure about at night. Do people use the trolley to get to work or is it primarily for tourists?

and thanks for not drunk driving!!

Well the trolly just goes from Channelside to Ybor...which is why I asked about free safe parking in both locations. I was really wanting to checkout Ybor but was willing to park in Channelside and take the trolley if needed.

There is no free parking in Channelside. If you park overnight, you will have to pay a decent amount of money. On the other hand, there is free on-street parking in Ybor if you can find it. There is also free parking in downtown Tampa nights and weekends north of Kennedy, so you could always park downtown, then take the trolley to Channelside or trolley + streetcar to Ybor.
