I received this in the mail yesterday with a $158 fine, for failing to come to a complete stop, I think. My husband was driving though. So I was going to send in an affidavit to bust him instead. But after reading the fine print, I realize that he will get a real ticket if I do this! That would mean a higher fine with court costs, and maybe insurance points....

So am I to falsely admit guilt by paying the fine, as it would cost my family more to do the right thing and name the real offender??

Do most people just pay these, since the consequences seem worse for not paying (and then facing a real ticket instead)??

Thanks for any info!

He swears he didn't do it, lol. He was making a right turn, so it must have been that he didn't stop completely. Not as bad as cruising straight through a red light, I guess...We aren't reckless or anything, really!

I'd pay it just to make it go away without any further issues. Look at it as supporting your local government and community!! Makes the bitter pill go down easier. ;-)

I cannot see where there will be a doubt regarding paying it!?

Its called: "Responsibility"! If you were pulled over by a cop your husband would get the ticket, because the cop can determine who was driving, however, the camera has no idea WHO was driving. If you don't like "your car" to get the ticket, then turn him in! I would. My hubby got a camera ticket once it was $153, I am guessing inflation got them up $5 bucks!? LOLOL

When you make a right turn you YIELD to the traffic that comes from the opposite way. You still have to STOP.

Did they send a picture of you going through the red light? If you did not run the light fight the ticket.

Yes, pictures AND VIDEO.

This guy at work got one a while back and it's plain as day on the video...

I dont have much sympathy for people who run red lights.

Speeding? Who cares.

Running stop lights and stop signs KILLS PEOPLE.

I have zero tolerance for people trying to get off on a technicality for this stuff

You do get a video. Its straight up blackmail, a private company sets up the cameras and pays a percentage of the fine to the city. I took the one i got to the lawyer I use to get out of speeding tickets, he told me not to do anything, the city often doesn't even follow up on the infraction, and if they did he would represent me for the same $150, I never heard anything from them.

Don't pay it. It's a scam by our local politicians. Don't tolerate that BS. Private companies can't really force money out of you (yet).

Pay the fine and don't do it again. This sounds harsh but it's all you can really do especially with a picture and video as evidence.
