YMCA is having a parents night out event, allowing my wife and I to go out from 7pm - 12midnight. Thinking of something to do. I am thinking of the following but was wondering if anybody had more unique suggestions.

Eat:
The Melting Pot (Its pricey so I figured it would be nice to go without the kids. Never been, have heard it is a fun experience)
Or
Charley's Steakhouse (Would cause a fair amount of driving though)

Play:
Considering either going to the indoor gun range on Dale Mabry and renting some interesting guns and shooting them. I think this would be fun and different.
Or
Go to a comedy show at SideSplitters, which we have done before. We're big fans of Comedy but the timing would be difficult to pull off with eating at The Melting Pot. Show starts at 8:00 and I have never heard of the Headliner.
Or
Got to Tampa Grand Prix and race some Go Karts, play some minigolf, etc. I have a Groupon! I actually bought two so this is something we will be doing with the kids also.

Thanks!

Melting Pot for sure. Since you like comedy, Louis C.K. is coming to Tampa. Not sure if that's your style, but I find him hilarious.

The Louis CK show is sold out already, its november 29th anyway, the improv @Ybor usually has pretty good acts, every time i gone to sidesplitters is been some really unfunny unknown guy, ditto for coconuts. I usually do dinner at hyde park, cheap restaurant is good albeit a tad loud. If you want something casual but really good food Datz would do it. Anyway the improv is lot better IMO.

I would say Melting Pot, then go carts if it's a nice evening. Sounds like a fun night whatever you end up doing!

Thanks BucFan. I saw this and almost decided to do this. We saw Train last year at the Trop. Plus we would get to the game late (can;t drop the kiddos off until 7) and would probably have to leave a bit early (have to be back in Northdale by 12 to pick them up).

Oh... if only the Rays played in Tampa, I wouldn't have to drive so long and this would have worked.

Shocked how many people seem to really enjoy The Melting Pot. Looking forward to it! Thanks everyone!

Funny thing is that the concerts bring a near sell out crowd, and I've started to enjoy the Rays games when there are only 15k in the stadium. Lines are much shorter, you can move around at will, you can leave the stadium much quicker. All around a more pleasant experience. But for concert nights, usually a full house, parking is more difficult, etc etc. Selfish of me.

Anyway, I say Train last year as well, and although I enjoy their music, HDTV watching for me.

Enjoy your "date night" - hope these afternoon/evening showers don't ruin the night.

Probably too late but what about 'The Columbia Restaurant' in Ybor? They have the flamenco dancers which would be entertainment..
