Hello!

I gave up on Syracuse, will attend Stetson instead.

I am looking to live in Tampa. Budget is $1200 ideal, $1400 max cost for rent. I have been looking in Town N Country area.

I will need to commute to Stetson Law school at 1401 61st St. S., Gulfport, FL 33707. My wife will need to shuttle our kids to private school at 4630 North Rome Avenue Tampa, FL 33603.

I am more interested in the drive to the private school to be shorter. But not so far from Gulfport to be time prohibitive, ie more than 45 minutes.

Unless your school hours are not during rush hours you are going to be hard pressed to get there in 45 minutes. It is hard enough to go 12 miles in 30 minutes during rush hour from TnC to RJ stadium. Why not move to St. Pete and put the kids in school there?

Still looking at houses in Town N Country, FL. I can't see moving elsewhere with a daily commute to http://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8...13434770558492 and the kids going to school daily at 4630 North Rome Avenue Tampa, FL 33603 - Google Maps

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but have you looked into private schools in Pinellas county? That's one heck of a commute to Gulfport from T&C. The way I see it, here's your options.

1. Like you said, T&C. It's affordable and would be a shorter commute for your wife.
2. South Tampa. More expensive for what you get, but it would shorten your commute while not making your wife's any longer.
3. You could maybe split the difference and find a place in north St. Pete, close to the 275. (but like you said you're willing to sacrifice for the lady)
4. Find a private school in Pinellas and move near there. This would greatly reduce your commute and possibly even hers, too.

What do you think the commute time is from 4931 Shetland Ave Tampa, FL 33615 - Google Maps to 1401 61st Street South Gulfport, FL 33707 - Google Maps ?

Please submit decent commute times, class starting at 8am, 45 minutes at most? 27.5 miles, 20mi of Interstate. Or am I mistaken? I need to hear it. I am thinking that since it is a REVERSE commute, then I might be safe?

I think what we are trying to say is..... T&C..... not a good place to live.... if you can afford elsewhere. The commute you are talking about could be better.

Those homes were built in the 60s. Many of those homes back up to canals. I haven't been in the area for a while but I still have friends who live in TnC and they have had no problems. They live in a subdivision that is very diverse. Parts of the area are bad especially around Hanley ave.

You might want to check the crime map

Have you considered St. Pete Catholic for your child? If that's possible, then you can live in Pinellas County and have more choices and a MUCH shorter commute.

If your mind is set on the above, the area around the house on Shetland Ave is okay but I would NOT want to commute to Stetson daily from there.

You should also know there are pockets of crime areas in/around TnC. Here's a link to the crime maps for further research --> http://gis.hcso.tampa.fl.us/crimemapping/.

Couldn't these be positives? Not everyone believes in moving into new construction. Can you put a boat in these canals?
