Wouldn't you know it, today I saw a guy in the Walmart parking lot with a gun in a holster. I try to relax when I see that, but I can't help being a little more on-guard than normal.

I would be more concerned if I saw one that the owner thought was concealed.

Yea see..

Arizona all in all wouldnt be my cup of tea. The whole place just seems bad to me people wise (maybe slightly better than CA) and too much of a dry heat. Anywhere pro marijuana and anti tobacco also doesnt sit well with me. That pretty much discourages the normal everyday people from even living there really.. the people who smoke cigarettes to me are the everyday people even though I dont like cigarettes. I do like cigars though and FL is king for cigars.

Well it's the feeling a person gets in a place that's important. All the rational debate, dry heat vs humidity, economy, demographics...If a person gets a good vibe and energy from a place, chances are that's going to override all the other factors. And if a person feels good, they'll probably be more productive anyway.

Again though absolutely, it depends on the kind of person you are. All I had to do though was go somewhere named Nevada City CA to experience a place so anti tobacco and pro pot it wasn't even funny.. heavily geared for retirees also. I mean like really much so and had a small population as well. So if that's what I'd have to look forward to, no thanks.. same with Humboldt.. YUCK.

Well Phoenix is hardly small population - something like the 7th largest city in the US and last time I looked the median age was below the national average. The median age in Hillsborough county is 36, Pinellas 47, in Maricopa County AZ its 34.
Yes there are pockets in the metro area with large retiree populations but overall it is a rather young demographic.
I love the fact that there is no smoking in public places but most restaurants and clubs have outside patio areas where smoking us permitted.

Wikipedia says over 1.5 milion, and that's just in the city limits of Phoenix. We might be snagging that number 5 spot soon. I assume it's infill too, as they haven't' annexed any land lately. I know the urban elitists frown on sprawly growth, but it costs alot of $$ to live comfortably in big dense, urban cities. At least here you can have a nice house on even a lower-middle class salary. And the public transit is great here, freeways! No tolls anywhere.
