They were much more right about the weather that i can remember in the 70's then they are now.

I loved Big 13 with Hugh Smith, Roy Leep and Andy Hardy back in the days.

I remember Hugh Smith.....

Sarasota Herald-Tribune - Google News Archive Search

Smith was able to weather a 1982 arrest on a solicitation of prostitution charge, for which adjudication was withheld.

After an on-air apology, he continued as anchor for almost another decade.

2nd Arrest Ends TV Career

His television career ended when he was 56 after a second arrest, in 1991, on a charge of soliciting prostitutes, including an underage runaway. He was sentenced to house arrest and probation.

Sounds like a great guy.....

What a creep. Not sure how anyone could miss that.

I remember him and his big 13, that was the joke back then. Then we had Andy Hardy hair on Q-105.

Meteorologist Brooks Garner leaving WFLA for Houston station

WFLA meteorologist Brooks Garner is leaving in May for KHOU in Houston where he will do weekday weather at noon and 4 p.m.

"I am so privileged to have been granted the opportunity to be a part of WFLA for the past three years," Garner said on Facebook. "The people of News Channel 8 make this place so special and will be sincerely missed."

Garner came to Tampa in 2010 from WIS-TV in Columbia, S.C., where he worked for five years and was the weekday evening meteorologist. Previous to S.C., was morning meteorologist at KMEG-TV in Sioux City, Iowa, according to WFLA.

He won an Emmy in the weather category in 2012 and was the only meteorologist allowed to fly into Superstorm Sandy last year, according to KHOU.

Garner is a graduate of Mississippi State University's broadcast meteorology program and also has a degree from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.

Brooks holds the National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society Seals of Approval.

Brooks also played a brief role in a Hollywood movie, as a St. Louis broadcast meteorologist alongside Forest Whitaker and Renee Zellweger in "My Own Love Song" (2010). He also provided off-screen forecast consulting for two movies.

An enthusiast of the outdoors and fitness, Brooks rode his bicycle across the country in a seven-week trip from Virginia Beach to Los Angeles. Brooks is married and lives with his growing family in Tampa.
Looking forward to seeing him here in Houston, KHOU is the best station in town.
