First of all, thank you to all the regulars and established posters that make this Forum so great. It has been an invaluable source of info for me, as I considered where in the TBA to move.

Due to job relo/promo, I am moving to the Tampa Bay area from the PRK (Peoples Republic of Kalleefornia). YAY!!

We did all the requisite research, evaluated diff areas, thought about country-type living but still within commutable range (i.e. Lutz, Cheval), close-but-quaint Safety Harbor, etc.

We finally decided on COASTAL living and just pulled the trigger on a waterfront home in REDINGTON BEACH.
Woo-Hooo!!

Nice place - 3600sf, pool, dock, 20K lift, on the bay, 1 block from beach, etc.

For you long-term TBA residents, anything I should know? From what I've seen Redington Beach & Indian Shores seem to be more residential, and less touristy.

Fave spots? Great food?

Moving in April - can't wait to get settled.

-Von

Welcome Von. My best and most important piece of advice is to make sure you have thick skin if you dare to post anything positive once you get here and learn to use the ignore feature.

Great place to eat , IMO, is Cafe Alfresco in downtown Dunedin....if you want to take a trip over there. Phenomenal chefs! We absolutely LOVE the food there.

I'm glad you were able to escape the PRK and are making it to paradise.

You'll love it It's definitely more residential, if I were to live on the beaches, it would be up that direction rather than the southern beaches in Pinellas. Our absolute favorite place to eat is PJ's Oyster Bar on Indian Rocks Beach, great food (not just oysters), great prices...definitely be prepared for a wait, but you can get drinks at the bar and sit outside. It's a very casual beachy-place.

I think the only thing you may find irritating, depending on where you're working and the time you drive, is your commute. Totally worth it in my opinion, if I could afford to live down there

I was going to say PJ's too. Also Salt Rock Grill (Indian Shores) and Island Way Grill (Clearwater) are great...and they both have 2 for $25 deals before 5:30pm. You will learn to eat that early!

Also wanted to give a shout out for Columbia in Clearwater Beach. The best black bean soup ever.

And if you are in St Pete - Ceviche is great...

Oh if you want to step it up a notch The Maritana Grille in the Don Cesar was pretty splendid.

I am sooo hungry now.

Congratulations !! Way to go. You're free !!!!!!!!

I wish you nothing but the best in Florida and I am sure you will LOVE the fact that they can somehow figure out how to run a state with NO INCOME TAXES !!! Pretty amazing place.

I am jealous, envious and any other term you can manage. I am not far behind you.
