So I keep hearing some people mention how low the pay is in the Tampa Bay area. My wife kept the same pay moving here (clinical research) my son got a 25% increase in pay (financial sector) and my original job was comparable in pay (materials management), but the second job I opted for did pay less (materials management).

So what do y'all consider good pay for whatever jobs you would like to discuss and what do you think they actually pay here in Tampa Bay. Looking for specific fields/jobs, not just vague posts.

The state minimum wage is the same for all individuals, regardless of how many dependents they may have. The poverty rate is typically quoted as gross annual income. We have converted it to an hourly wage for the sake of comparison.

Cleaned it up, just posted it for perspective from a institutional point of view.

Interesting. I'd call it more of a "Barely Surviving Wage" than a "Living Wage".

barely surviving is correct. family of 4 here and I alone make more than the living wage and my wife works too. Id say were OK but certainly not driving bmw's or anything. That must be a pop tart for breakfast, ramen noodles for lunch and go catch some fish for dinner kind of budget lol.

To answer the question of what I consider an ok salary is a tough one. Its hard to say what qualifications everyone has and what field they are in. I think that OK money is 50k+ for a lower level employee (lower as in lower management, not the fry cook) and 100k+ for highly technical or higher level management is fair and will support a decent life here.

quote..In November 2012 the U.S. Census Bureau said more than 16% of the population lived in poverty in the United States, including almost 20% of American children. ( wikepedia)
Part of the problem is debt, and the high rates of interest attached to the debt. if I had No debt-(never had kids or never buried the hubby) I probably be ok with $45K a year alone in a modest dwelling. ooohhh but darn there goes the car, need a transmision, ohh geesh my back is out again- twoo jobs is too much on me),,, Dr. is talking operation. and 6 weeks no work... OH NO>>> they laid my son off again after 10 yrs- (he was making too much) he has 3 kids, n stay at home wife w MS... what??.. you cut my hours because of the Obamacare dispute... I was sick last week and forgot to pay my one credit card, by one day... now all interest climbed from 18% to 30% on the rest of my cards..
Figures on the sheet are good folks,,, but add reality to that and see how real people live. Just looking at rent or basic necessities, $15hr is bare minimum to live in the USA

That's the price you have to pay to keep the "Low Cost of Living" myth alive.

Living Wage Calculator - Living Wage Calculation for Spring Hill CDP, Hernando County, Florida

Interesting. According to that my wife and I could live on less than half of the income I have now. I bet that would be a blast.
