When my dad was in town, the cops had closed all but the middle lane my dad wanted to turn around but the cops wouldn't let him, his rental stalled because of the water, he is still fighting the rental company who told him the insurance doesn't cover it.

I think the idiots driving F250s might be the worse drivers in the rain, not including the geek driving the 2 year old Prius. I was driving across the fFrankenstein from TPA south and it was pouring and trucks were passing me like I was standing still ..I was driving 50 in the right ! it was crazy ! then further down towards the SKYway people were flying up the bridge and you could not even see the top of the bridge traffic - one guy hydo planed near the opp toll both on the Man side, but the fool recovered - you should have seen the expression on his stupid face - probably a Canadian .

Canadians lose their right to Canadian healthcare reimbursement if they are out of Canada for more than 6 months, i hardly think August would be one of the preferred months for a Canadian snowbird.
Without further proof odds are the out of control driver was probably a local.

Those would probably be good odds. I've actually never seen anyone with Canadian plates driving crazy here...can't say the same about the locals.

you need to realize that all "Canadians" in FL don't drive cars with Canadian plates. In fact every Canadian I know in SRQ to Bonita, drive cars with FL plates actually. Many long term rentals (with FL plates), others they purchase in FL and simply leave in their garages. I see it all the time, increasingly so. You don't see many Mexican tags either, but I assure you many of them are illegal too. We call the Canadians "stealth Americans" why ? they speak English and are WHITE, so they get away from the intense scrutiny, official and otherwise. Fact.

Do your homework as to the number of totally illegal aliens from Canada now living and working in places such as SRQ, BRD, LWR,Ft Myers, Bonita and around around Lee. Illegals even from the UK even. They are everywhere, and many aren't just "snow birds" anymore. They sneak back and forth all the time.

That said, the locals can drive like maniacs as well

Thats quite a talent to deduce any given drivers nationality even though the plates on the car are Florida.
As for doing homework on Illegal Canadians? you brought the subject up you do the homework and prove your claim.
