You must have never tried to cross the Lincoln tunnel on a Friday afternoon.

You can do more then 20 miles in New York in 1.5 hrs on a Friday afternoon.

I used to drive from JFK to Richmond in Staten Island twice a week during the evening rush hour and that's closer to 40 miles and would be a bad day if it took 1.5 hours. On the weekends I can do the same 40 miles drive in about 45 minutes.

I would also go to the Palisades Pkwy form JFK and again 20 miles 1.5 hours would be unusual. It is hard for me to imagine TIA to Clearwater beach, 20 miles, taking 1.5 hours using my personal gauge of driving in NY. I guess I will find out in about a week!

Matter fact, I used to drive every Thursday round trip from a car dealer in Freeport NY to a huge auto auction in Bordentown, NJ (I think that is exit 5 or 7 on the NJT) anyway its 88 miles (see link) and we used to do it in 1.5 hours!

The more I hear people talk about commute times in Tampa and the massive disagreement in travel times the more I think its the driver, I think we are dealing with old retirees on this forum giving horrendous drive times with all kinds of nefarious conditions one must endure vs. young to middle age adults giving real driving times.
