Good news for Tampa... only downside is that we won't host another one.

Remember why we lost the ACC Championship game? We lost it because the TSA has obstructive tailgating rules that don't mesh well with college football. As a bulls fan and alumni I can tell you that ever since these rules went into effect back in 2009 our attendance has suffered... even when we were doing well it still suffered.

Unless the TSA rules are changed to conform to college football traditions we won't host another one of these.

Currently the rules prohibit the following hallmarks of college football:

- Tossing a football or anything else.
- Using a pop-up tent larger then 9x9, or using 2 9x9 tents together.
- Kegs.
- Speakers and boom boxes.
- Tailgating for more then 5 hours consecutively.
- Over night tailgating / camping for RV's.

Strange, I see all of those at Bucs games except for the overnight camping.

You see them at Buc's games because the Buc's allow it for their fans... Meanwhile the TSA prohibits it at USF Bulls events. Double standard.

When the ACC chose to relocate the ACC title game to Charlotte they cited these rules as a prime reason for wanting to move the location.

Who knows, they might wave them given that this is such a huge $$ generator for the Buc's and the TSA.

This is why USF has chosen to also not renew its contract at RayJay and is now exploring the possibility of building a stadium on campus. Well its one of the reasons at least. The other factor is that the Buc's play in RayJay virtually rent free and the Bulls have to pay USF's rent and the Buc's rent.

USF is getting screwed 10 ways from Sunday.

That's pretty asinine of the TSA... the rules should be the same.

Doubt if the rules have as much to do with the crappy attendance as the Godawful football team does. BTW, renewed my season tickets for 2014 just this afternoon - what a waste of money.

This will be the first and last time the BCS championship is hosted here. Tampa cannot handle these types of events and everytime there is an event like this the city just gets mocked on a national scale. Remember all the jokes about this city during the GOP convention?...yea something like that.

I went to the event and had a very good time -----

care to address why we've had 4 Super Bowls - probably the nations most prestigious annual athletic event.....

Interesting you bring that up. It was noted one of the main reasons why Tampa was awarded was because of how the GOP convention was handled. No civil disturbances and very peaceful.

well we can thank our para-military forces, I mean TPD for that. The outback bowl does get rave reviews, but just like the ACC championship game, they have problems filling seats.

The same TPD that was giving food and water to protesters?
