Hi everyone,
We are in the middle of trying to find a place to settle down, but not having any luck. We came to St. Pete a few weeks ago hoping to rent in Old NE or pass a grille, but have not been able to find anything so we are broadening our search. We would like to live somewhere within a couple of hours of this area. We would also prefer some place with charm and character like craftsmans bungalows or beach cottages, family oriented, and not touristy. Things we prefer, but don't absolutely need, are to be close to the beach, sailing, and walkability. I know Hyde park is nice, and we are considering that too, but once again, can't find a home. We would like to rent for the first year. Our budget is $2100 for a 2-3 bedroom. We are both in the medical field, but we have a toddler and baby on the way so I won't be working for the next year. Does a place like this exist???
Thanks all!

It's going to be difficult to find a neighborhood with charm/character that attracts families in Florida as the mantra is overwhelmingly to reside in cookie-cutter McHouses in McNeighborhoods as far from the coast as possible. You might have some success in homes with more character (albeit not bungalows, rather 50s-80s Florida ranch-style) in nice areas such as Safety Harbor, Seminole (west side), Largo (SW side), Belleair/Belleair Bluffs or Clearwater (the SW side in the Nursery Rd/Belleair Rd corridors).

Look up kenwood in st petersburg, it is more downtown that old northeast. Also check out crescent lake, and you could check out central oak park (my neighborhood). there are others, but im fairly new here so I haven't seen all of the town yet, so cant comment on it.

central oak park listing: 3546 8th Ave N, Saint Petersburg, FL 33713 is For Rent - Zillow

1000 Monticello Blvd N Saint Petersburg FL 33703, Saint Petersburg, FL 33703 is For Rent - Zillow
