Well, now that we don't have bulk pick up, where are we supposed to dispose of old carpets?

Does anyone know?

Thanks. (and no, they can't be cut in little pieces).

So glad you think everyone can figure this out!

What is a tax assessment? and why do I need to bring it with me? and how am I supposed to load this up in a sedan?
What the heck does this mean?

Residents of unincorporated Hillsborough County are limited to bringing in 10 cubic yards of solid waste material per year, as part of their annual assessment, which is equivalent to the material that ca
n be put into a vehicle pulling a double-axle trailer or a loaded box/straight truck. (For comparison, a loaded pickup truck generally only carries about two cubic yards.) Once the 10 cubic yard limit per y
ear has been reached, residents will be required to deliver their solid waste material to the Southeast County Landfill or one of the County’s Solid Waste Transfer Stations and pay standard commercial disposal charges, also called tipping fees
Sorry, but this is more confusing than before I asked the question!
What's carpet considered?

While I think this is a great idea, I can't picture the physicality of throwing this huge piece of carpet in the truck?!

I know it's far fetched, but another idea would be to call the folks at Hillsborough County Waste management and ask them

I sometimes wonder how people with such little common sense make it through life.

How did it never occur to the OP to actually ASK waste management what to do?

Based on what I've seen in different towns, carpet should be considered a *bulky* item. And if I read it right on the Hillsborough county site, it's of no cost which is pretty cool. Anywhere I've lived, it's a $25 fee for items that aren't eligible for the weekly collection.

good idea - or pay someone to haul it off - beats renting a van/truck to do it yourself.....or list on craigslist - sometimes just leaving it out by the curb with "free" sign gets it taken away -----worked for me.
