My family is going down in a week. Here's the deal. Our flight home leaves Tampa at 6:30pm. We need to be out of our rental at 11:00am. No rental car, so we need to get our baggage to the airport via shuttle early. We have two young children 5 and 6. What the hell can we do to kill time in TPA, or near by? Any suggestions welcome! I had some time to kill as well (twice). Once I took a taxi to a beach bar/restaurant because it was such a nice day out and there's a small beach (not recommended for swimming but still nice to walk on) and a deck to sit outside on to enjoy. If I remember correctly, it was around $30 round trip. I know you have kids but this place during the day would be kid friendly.

Barefoot Bar - Tampa

The next time, I got some great information from the booth just outside the ground level where all the taxis and buses are. I was given a shuttle bus schedule and if I remember correctly, it comes every 20 minutes. Very reasonable too, maybe $1 or $2. I ended up going to Westshore Mall (not upscale and as nice as International Mall) because I didn't have too much time this time around to kill. The downside to there is the drop off isn't directly in front of Westshore so with two kids, I wouldn't recommend. Walking with my luggage, even on wheels, was not a good time.

Thanks much!! I found an aquarium near by too. I may try to beg and plead for a late check out if I get to worried about it. I just didn't want to sit at the airport for seven hours

I used to kill time at the Airport Marriott pool and bar.

No brainier....International Plaza Mall that is where we always go when we have checked in and instead of wasting time at the airport we go to the mall...it always cost us more money but we enjoy our time and we can enjoy what we bought for a longer time.
