Hello all! Due to an awesome job offer I'll be leaving Ft. Myers with my fiance and heading to Clearwater (to be honest, I'm so happy! This city is starting to wear on me) and we're working out what we're going to transfer and what we're not going to transfer. Pretty sure there will be different water/electric companies so unless we discover otherwise we're going to cancel those ones, but in terms of our internet: are there better choices in Clearwater?

In Ft. Myers we literally just have Centurylink and Comcast. My internet searches have oddly not been very conclusive as the only website that gives decent information on ISPs is Angie's List but I don't have an account there.

I've found evidence that you guys have fiber optic services but haven't been able to confirm them (Verizon Fios's website is really badly put together to be honest).

I've always wanted Fiber Optic - is it true that it's available here? If all goes well we will be in the 33764 Zip code.

Yes, Fios is here. Two of my neighbors have it. Bright House is the predominant provider here, though they are not fiber optic yet.

Most likely you can have Fios in CLW.
Here's a good link from our site:

FIOS has also had some reliability problems, has greater fluctuation in speeds and has users getting drastically lower than advertised speeds on a somewhat regular basis. On the other side, my RoadRunner service is very reliable, and I can consistently pull speeds close to my 25mb/s tier even during peak load times.

I'm a huge fan of fiber optic internet but FIOS has failed to impress me. There are other ISPs doing more for less cost to the consumer, with Google Fiber being the good standard. I'm still holding out hope that we'll see Google come to Tampa Bay before I leave the area.

I have always found Verizon to be one of the most horrible companies to do business with that there is. I was never satisfied with their cable service, their landline phone service or their cell phone service. All were dismal.

I've used Brighthouse for years and have always been quite happy with them. They have the high speed internet connection and it's super fast. I don't know if Fios is faster, but it won't matter. I never have to wait to download anything.

I've been happy with Bright House service for the most part. They generally take care of their customers and have been quick to correct any problems I've had. FIOS does have higher speeds available but they are A) very pricey and B) usually impractical unless you are a serious power user.

At this point, I haven't been able to justify the added cost of FIOS and stuck with RoadRunner.

We have had no problems at all with FIOS. Was the best move we made, as ours is used mainly for very important business purposes and we cannot risk any issues. We have bundled service and our price is lower than what BH had to offer. We are very happy customers.
