My family and I wondered if there was an area with a large concentration of Irish/Irish-Americans in Tampa? We really like Cuban culture and many other cultures but also enjoy our own Irish culture so want to raise our kids with traditional music, dance and culture.

I saw Dunedin and perhaps Hyde Park in Tampa had some Irish/Celtic culture around. Wondered if anyone knew any tips. We are dual US/Irish citizens and would live in Ireland but the weather is not always to our liking and the job market in the USA is more robust.

Tampa seems exciting, especially since it seems to be a growing city and will have ferry access to Cuba which is a place we love.

I see there is an Ancient Order of Hibernians in the area. There is also a Glasgow Celtic FC supporters club in Dunedin but it seems too suburban? We are city people and we thought perhaps Hyde Park area would suffice. Four Green Fields looks like a good pub!

If we chose the Tampa metro area is there anywhere other than Hyde Park that is safe and walkable? Our budget for rental is about $2,800 tops and to buy would be around $375,000.

Thanks for your help in advance!

We dont have cities like Dublin or Galway or the like here as you will know. Downtown around Tampa or St Petersburg are about the most city like you will get. Come here on March 17th and everyone is Irish LOL
You will get a nice rental for your budget, a house, maybe, but you need to think about school districts too.
good luck to ye

I am a lousy Irishwomen...but I would try Four Greenfields on Platt street in downtown Tampa...they should be able to point you in the right direction...but if you ever want to hang out in Flanagans in Dunedin or Bridie Oneill's in downtown Palm Harbor hit me up on pm!

You won't find it in Tampa. There's not enough Irish people here for that to be a thing.

Try Our Lady of the Rosary in Land O Lakes. They have a Hibernian chapter there. They are looking for new members. They meet the 3rd Thursday of the month. Not sure of the times. You would have to call the church to get additional information.

Appreciate all the replies! We are looking to move around July of 2016 so no real rush. Received a few great PM's as well.

Looks like perhaps Hyde Park in Tampa, St. Pete's or Dunedin seem like the best bets thus far.

I'm an educator and my wife is in finance. Are teaching or administration jobs in secondary education difficult to get in the region? I am a licensed teacher and administrator.

Compared with other U.S. cities, Tampa's Irish-American population is scant.
