Hi all,

We own a townhome in Safety Harbor and when we purchased it Citizens was the only company that would insure it according to our agent. We have now received a letter from Citizens stating Heritage Property & Casualty will assume our policy unless we reject the assumption.
It doesn't appear that our cost will go up any or at least not at this point.
My question is, should we reject the assumption by Heritage and if not, will this change cause us any issues in the future?
As always, we really appreciate your thoughts and advice.

I would reject it. This company is a start up with no track record who just bundled money to Scott and reaping all kind of deal...

Citizens has to be the most expensive. So if you reject the change and want to stay with Citizens, the rate will be higher.

Have you shopped around to see if there are alternatives?

Not since we purchased the home which was about 7 months ago. At that time Citizens was our only option. I am thinking I am going to reject the assumption. If a large hurricane did hit with many claims to be paid, I would think a start up would be more likely to go under than a state ran company. Im thinking sticking with Citizens might be the safer choice.
