I will be on a job assignment for a few months. I was wondering where in Tampa is a good area to consider? I'm not too much into diversity. Any good extended stay hotels with reasonable rates? I truly appreciate your responses!!!

I see the "helpful" posters are out....

OP it really depends where work is, because traffic here sucks too. I can't speak for extended stays as we never stayed at one of those before. Have you checked their websites? I think there's one by I-75 but you'll have to check their site for rates...I can tell you, that one is not in the "nicest" area of town...just meh...

I think Brandon has an Extended Stay hotel right off I75. There is another one off of Hillsborough Ave, I believe, near the airport. Good time of year to be visting - hope you like it here. You might want to make it a permanent assignment if it suites you well. Visit stubhub to pick up Bucs or Lightning tickets cheap. Lots of stuff starts to happen in the area now that the heat should be subsiding and snowbirders (and their money) are returning to the area.

You might find some decent digs on this site:

VRBO - Tampa Vacation Rentals

It would be helpful to know where in the Tampa area your assignment is.

Thanks guys. Useful information. My job assignment will be at West Lemon Street Tampa, FL 33609. Is that a bad neighborhood to live?

I'm not familiar, but it looks like a halfway decent location to me. I'll let some of the more knowledgeable people chime in here.

With google maps these days, you can plug in some of the properties on VRBO and check them out by address in terms of distance from West Lemon Street. I think you'll do just fine.

Lemon is a east west street. Depends on location. The further west you go on Lemon, the better the area.
There is an extended stay at the corner of Manhattan and Spruce. I don't remember the name, but it's a great location. 2 blocks to international mall, half mile to west shore mall, 6 blocks to the airport and more restaurants than you could shake a stick at.
