My parents are retiring and starting to look at condos in the Tampa area to live closer to my wife and I. We just moved down here so we don't know the area nearly as well as some of you.

We live in South Tampa and my parents want to be within 30-45 minutes of us, preferably near the beach or with some type of water view but still accessible to grocery stores etc. They are still very active and run/walk every morning.

They recently visited Treasure Island and while they liked it they found it to be a bit expensive and far from stores.

I am thinking either Olsdmar or St. Petersburg for them to begin their search. Could someone weigh in and suggest some areas so I can help them narrow their search when they come back down in a few months?

There are many up and down the waterfront (beaches and bay).
do they want to be in a all age community?
downtown St Pete is great, but waterfront there is very expensive nowadays, but there are
some good places.
Bayshore in Tampa may have some nice ones too and its got a marvelous seems like miles long
waterfront area for running,walking/cycling etc.
