Who cares? People can vote for anyone/anything they want. I'm sure if it affected your job, you would vote no or whatever.

That alone makes me want to vote yes, get rid of the dead wood.

Some people are too dumb to even know what is good for them. It is like a union negotiation, you have to start somewhere or you are dead locked. If this is rejected you will not see another offer for years. It will be like, "Well the people have spoken". Pass it and it can be added to as time go by. We can go after more. It is a no lose deal to pass it.

Up until today I was voting yes for the portability as well. Mike Thomas, a regular columnist in the Orlando Sentinel, wrote an article that if this amendment passes, lawyers are already in place to challenge the constitutionality of it with regard to the Save Our Homes exemption, and the passing of the amendment will also provide an opportunity to challenge the existing Save Our Homes exemption. I've got some more research to do.

PS - We were for the 1% option - 1% to sales tax, 1% prop tax across the board whether investment, second homes, primary, whatever. Oh, well....

He is exactly right, it could be the catalyst for real change. Losing SOH is not a bad thing if it brings about a real and fair tax system in the state. Even those who love their SOH have to admit it is a stupid and unfair system. Again voting yes is a no lose deal.

You're so right. Look at the lunatic John Edwards who talks about "two Americas", while he lives at his fantasy-world estate. No, I don't begrudge his financial success and the fruits of it, but I do object to his hipocrisy.

Voting no- this is a carrot and donkey show that does not address the inequality, nor does it address "highest and best use", the borderline-criminal ability of the property appraiser to overtax businesses at whim.

Two years and all the legislators can come up with is this poorly designed, half-azzed, clear as mud proposal that will in reality do little, if any, good.

I have confidance in the St. Petersburg Times (though not the media in general). This article may debunk some of the selling points of Amendment One.

Pasco: Reasons to vote 'no' on unfair Amendment 1

Slashing taxes is going to have long term reprecussions that most people are not considering. Our colleges are already in peril and the lost revenue will come from somewhere... there are no free lunches.
NO on Amendment One!
