Curious if anyone can recommend a nice but affordable and area to live in within 20-30 mins of Carrollwood? If anyone has an opinion on where not to look because it's a bad area or whatever, I'd love to hear of those too. My girl and I are looking to rent a house that is pet friendly. I have a german shepherd and she has two cats. Thank you for any advice!

Good luck finding a house that will allow german shepherd. Insurance increases dramatically with these dogs on a site, so most owners are not even considering them.

Please define "affordable"

That shouldn't be too bad to accomplish. The further north you go the cheaper it gets and it is safe.

Many home owners insurances will not cover a pet like you have and hardly any place will take 3 pets due to the additional wear and tear.

I hope you credit is not too bad otherwise if you add that than you have a more uphill battle with the large pool of potential renters out there looking for a similar place.

More and more landlords are refusing to rent to pet owners due to the damage done to their homes. Cat pee smells in carpets, dog pee stains from "accidents" on wood floors, scratches on wood floors due to untrimmed toenails.

I think you should be prepared to buy if you own a large number of pets, or even just one large dog. Pet deposits just don't cover the damages done on a rental property.

One of our rentals home insurance has "NO pets" covered at all not even some breeds and it was much cheaper to get this policy and on top of the brand new flooring, etc. we are glad to have tenants without pets for that property although we tenants with pets in other properties and usually we rent everything to pet owners as many are great tenants.

Btw we love pets ourselves and almost all our life had them.
