This is just my opinion but in your price range in that area or anywhere around there will most likely be high crime. A lot of pillbillys and tweakers in that area. Besides the commute to the Hudson area would be pretty bad.

If it was me I would look east of the casino (Plant City area or even Lakeland), you wouldn't have to deal with the traffic like you would be if you were going west thru Tampa.

I agree

Thanks for all the replies I will look into what places you have said, the reason I was considering hudson is because I saw properties like this on streets which seem to be nice for good value like the 2 I linked.

15843 Adobe Dr, Hudson, FL 34667 | Zillow

http://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale..._zm/?3col=true

both of these would be under 90k

Agreed.... you would be looking at an hour each way, especially in high volume times. You may want to look in Lutz, it's at least 1/2 hour closer (it takes me 1/2 from New Port Richey to my GF's house in Lutz).

Fair enough let's erase the commute issue looking at those properties I posted and where they are any opinions on them?

Take a look in New Port Richey... some nice areas in the east part near Starkey Park and MUCH closer driving time. The further east of Hiway 19 you go, the better the areas. The drive from Hudson to New Port Richey is a killer, and it is not that far.

Just looked and saw some nice real estate for decent prices, anything to look out for in npr? What to avoid hidden costs etc....?

I'm a snowbird, so I'm not eligible for the homestead tax exemption, but generally I find that in the last three years the city has made some great steps forward. Taxes are reasonable, and the city administration and council appear to be frugal in the expenditures they make. They made efforts to clean up Highway 19, those efforts may take some time, however I am quite happy in the condo complex that I am in.

There is some efforts and projects for downtown redevelopment which seem to be quite positive. And I mention earlier I would suggest the further east of Highway 19 you are the better the areas are. You also want to be careful of not being in a flood zone area especially along the Anclote River. Essentially if you are south of 54 you could end up having some problems that way. Many people were evacuated about a month ago when heavy rains were along that area.

Starkey park is a wonderful Wilderness Park with bike trails and hiking trails throughout. It borders right up to New Port Richey.
