For these past few weeks my wife and I have had some new friends visiting us outside with our new bird feeder off our deck. We have lots of birds in the morning and late in the afternoon to watch. There have been a pair of Red-Bellied Woodpeckers. The male has a longer Bright Red Mohawk that is quite stunning. Sadly, I must say, I believe they have a drinking problem. They seem to only show up around "Happy Hour". Nature in Florida, you gotta love it.

I've got woodpeckers here, some pretty big ones. They look just like the picture. Every spring, the pound on my aluminum rain gutters. They also do it to my neighbors next door. Made me think I had rotting wood or something up there so I got it all checked out. No problems, and I found that it's a mating season thing. The gutters are louder than trees.

These wood peckers are very loud and talkative for sure. Just saw my third Gopher tortoises in my yard laying eggs. Nature in Florida is non-stop, such a delight, always something to see or do.

It sure is. My parent's villa is on a pond and they LOVE sitting in their lanai and watching everything.

We have always known about a family of Florida coyotes living in the woods behind us. These past few weeks we have seen one that comes out during the day and prances around behind our house. My small mut gets upset when it gets in his territory but its crazy to see all the wild life that comes from our back yard. In the late afternoon I could sit and watch nature in action, much better then a 60" TV.

I just moved right next to the Cypress Preserve in Lutz earlier this year, and i'm hearing and seeing all types of wildlife that i never have before when i lived over at Rocky Point. It's pretty nice to see a variety, except the mosquitoes are much worse, and the birds start chirping at 5:30 am right outside my window each morning waking me up, lol.
