So, my wife was offered an awesome opportunity in Tampa that we can't say no to. I will be working out of our Oldsmar office, she out of Brandon. We fell in love with Palm Harbor but that's not going to work for her commute. We don't know the area, we don't know anyone to really ask. We are going to rent for a year to make sure we like it then will likely buy something. Our kids will start kindergarten next year. Anyone have any guidance that would point us in the right direction? We have been given South Tampa and West Chase as best places to look. I'm not adverse to putting our kids in private school but would like to explore public schools first. Thanks in advance.

Westchase would be your best bet if you can cover the cost. Oldsmar isn't a bad area, nor are their schools. South Tampa is where everyone wants to be, for some strange reason, despite the fact that when the next big hurricane comes it will be under water. Your housing dollars will go the farthest in Oldsmar, Westchase, and lastly, South Tampa.

The commute from either area to Brandon shouldn't be bad, as for the most part she would be traveling against the traffic.

Westchase sounds like the best location for you as it has nice school and is between where both of you will be working as well. You could also look into Carrollwood, Lutz, Citrus Park, and Odessa.
