How many days (usually) is the boil water advisory after a hurricane here?

No one knows since we have not had one since 1921.

I lived on the East Coast in in 2004 when we had several. It wasn't usually long by my recollection, a couple of days maybe (mind you this was more than 10 years ago). The issue is how quickly they can get the treatment plant back on line. It is usually one of the priorities after a hurricane passes. We saved our potable water for drinking, cooking, washing dishes etc. but used the showers being careful not to ingest any water.

I think what he meant is Tampa hasn't had a direct hit since 1921. I've never boiled water because I don't drink tap water. If you drink tap water maybe you could drink bottled water when a boil water advisory is sent out and not worry about it.
Or call the water dept and ask them.

It's as long as they say it is for until they give the all clear.

Get real jack. No real storm has hit the Tampa area since 1921. Meaning a Cat3 or stronger coming onshore since 1921. Just had blow by's and state crossing storms with no winds more than 80mph. We got more wind from a cold front on March 13th 1993 with near 90mph winds.
