Good to see a few people still like them. I know my wife does that would be her preferred shopping place.
Florida has stores so close together that I can hit three of four and get everything I need, on one trip.

.....I posted that in the other, now-locked Publix thread. I noticed that they're also in other states - I think I saw them in Alabama (or Georgia) while traveling through.....I hope the store doesn't over-extend.

Did you think they were only in Florida?

To be honest, it was mostly Floridians that voted their own store #1 since the majority of the Publix stores are still in our own state. I can see why "Floridians" voted Publix #1 since the other options in the state are mostly horrible. That said, there's no way on Earth that Publix is even close to best store in America.

I go to Publix in a pinch. Otherwise I go to Costco,Sams Club, Walmart and Target. Publix is nice but very overpriced.

Good point. Publix (1100+ stores) actually tied for first with Wegmans (under 100 stores) which gives a little perspective...

I've traveled throughout the USA and hadn't seen them. I'm currently traveling through 5-10 Mid and Western states and only saw one outside of FL so far.

According to wiki, Publix operates throughout the Southeastern United States, with locations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia, so that's why I'm not seeing them that often.

Not trying to pick on Publix. I'm sure it's a very fine supermarket chain, even though I have never seen one in my life. But this article seems ridiculous. How can a relatively small regional supermarket chain be America's favorite? I'm sorry, but before something can be called America's favorite, it should be available in at least half the states, and best as I can tell Publix only has stores in six states. Most of them are just in two states. They must have primarily surveyed people who live in the South. The article could have been better title: Florida votes Publix #1. If it's really that good though, I hope they keep expanding. Because I'm not really impressed with any of the supermarkets here in the West.

I'm in the Western US. They only time I have ever heard of Publix, is from talking to people from Florida. I doubt if the majority of American's have even heard of it.
