Pasco county is finding out that those houses being built comes with children needing to go to school.
This will help but property taxes will be going up as well. Keep on building pasco, 54 can handle the load.

Pasco County commissioners say they'll back 92 percent school impact fee hike | tbo.com

Agree.

They need more than that. Probably hike property tax. This is a drop on the ocean of money needed to have new schools built to accommodate growth. You can't just let growth without the infrastructure to support it. I am with one of the commissioners' comment on that.

Growth is inevitable, smart growth is a choice!

They will raise the sales tax in Pasco. Probably raise the property tax too. Even with adding extra impact fees they are over 200 million short.

F Pasco! They should of think about all this growth BEFORE issuing permits for thousand homes! Too late now.... I supported developers who said increasing impact fee will not solve the problem. Too little too late!

Far too little, too late. Pasco doesn't give a flying **** about children or families. Just look at 54 between Wesley Chapel and Trinity. It's becoming a parking lot during rush hour. Wall to wall subdivisions and multifamily dwellings. No new roads. Schools are an afterthought.

Where are these people moving from?

Here in SWFL we have growth too. My county, Charlotte County is growing too, however they were laying some teachers off because enrollment was down by 2,000 despite the county growing. Mostly old people moving here and younger people moving out apparently.

Exactly!!!

Last few school rezonings split and got against each other different neighborhoods in Pasco. All due to POOR planning on Pasco School Planning Department part. Excuses like we have no money are lame. And now all of a sudden they realized there are no money for new schools and decided to get public involved. How about getting rid of people who did poor job? I would love to see Chris Williams getting fired......
I went back and search through many meeting notes and never saw anything from Pasco Schools Planning questioning number of permits for new homes...

Not getting infrastructures ready for a growth its another issue. I dont see Pasco Transportation department coming in and asking for increase fee or taxes for new/wider roads... All improvements we see are mainly done by FDOT and private developers (inside communities)...

In short Pasco is not ready for growth its going through.
Hang in there people. If the will increase impact fee for developers, next step will be increasing taxes for all residents...
