Hello,
I just wanted to let those who live in the Tampa Bay area that there is a scam where you will receive a phone call on your landline telephone with a recording telling you to make sure you are home to meet with a technician to hook up your cable tv. We must have missed this first call. This is our experience. I was leaving for a doctor's appointment yesterday and as I was backing out of my driveway, I heard a horn blowing at me. I got out of the car to meet three young men telling me that they were at our house to hook us up to Frontier Cable.

They were driving a gray pick-up with what looked like a lawn trailer and a tiny Frontier decal. They asked for my mother, who I care for, as they said she had put in the order. She came outside and told them that no one had ordered Frontier and we are with Spectrum. They said okay and I thought that was that. Today at 3PM, the recording came through as Frontier Cable and said we should expect their technician to be at our house by 4PM and the message ended. I called the number ID back and a girl answered Frontier Cable. What company actually answers their phone without a series of digits to push these days?

I told "Beth" that we had never ordered their service and she insisted that we do have an account with them. I told her to cancel that because it is wrong. She said NO! My mother had to cancel with the last 4 digits of HER Social Security Number. My mother answered the other receiver and told her she was crazy in thinking that she would give any numbers out and to cancel it. After this exchange, I called a different Frontier Cable telephone number and the customer service person there told me that we never had an order for cable tv. Also that they would never ask non-customers for their Social, even the last 4. So beware. I have read on the web how others have had the same experience this year alone. Now I am just waiting to see if they somehow ran our credit. Others had have them do this. Thanks for your time, KB.

Frontier isn't a cable company in the first place, they wouldn't answer frontier cable. Frontier is a telephone company. They go by frontier communications, not frontier cable. The scam you experienced wasn't directly related to frontier as your post heading states but some crooks .

I am not familiar with frontier using contractors all of their trucks are clearly branded, frontier and painted white as was verizon. Spectrum does use contractors which use their own vehicles.
