OK, what about it? You have any validation of such law?

The beauty of forum is people are free to post information. The bad thing is people are free to post information, even if incorrect and inaccurate.

I booked with cruise line directly and if you buy early enough, you get a good deal. Not sure about the carnival bashing but was good to me. May be my standards are “low”.

Overall price can add up quickly with pictures, massage and if you visit the casino. I do enjoy the crab table, which they don’t have in Tampa.

Ok, did a bit more digging around. I was incorrect on 1 technicality but my overall guidance to the OP remains the same. It is not a gov't law that prevents travel agents from offering a lower price. It's a cruise line policy. As far as I know, Carnival, RCCL, NCL, Princess, HAL and Celebrity all have the same policy which is travel agents or websites cannot sell a cruise for a price lower than the price that the cruise line authorizes. They can offer various perks such as OBC, Room upgrades etc but the cruise price itself cannot be lowered.

Yeah and from looking around the bottom line total prices are the same. But several sites claim that if you call in you can get preferential pricing that can't be advertised, I don't know how true that is. Can't stand those "taxes and fees" added on top which is like double the supposed ticket price. It should be an honest all-in upfront price quoted.

People here said that the earlier in advance you buy the cheaper, but if your schedule is flexible there are massive last minute discounts all the time you can just do a simple search on cruisedirect.com or any similar site

cruise line pricing is alot like airline pricing. Prices can go up or down with no warning. Some places however offer price protection meaning that if you book with them and then there is a price drop, they will lower your price. As you can image, there are all kinds of variables / conditions that come into play. For example, it may be that once you have made your final payment, you are locked in but another site may still allow the drop. It's one of those things where you need to research.

Leaving on a cruise in 4 days on Royal Caribbean. Lets see there's ice skating, mini golf, rock climbing, 4 or 5 pools, whirl pools, water slides, surfing simulator, zip lining (yes, on the ship), outdoor movie theater at night, dance classes, basketball courts, work out facility, spas, shopping, mystery dinner theater, specialty restaurants, etc. Nothing to do, I don't think so!

This will be my 12th cruise. I always book directly. Our current deal included 30% off for me and my husband and my kids are sailing free!! We booked 7 months ago.

Which ship?

Update: we decided to book directly with the cruiseline(Royal Carribean - Majesty of Seas) for 4 night cruise to Bahamas from Port Canaveral. Total came upto $850 for 4 of us. This included taxes but no gratuties and it's an interior stateroom.

We’re going on RC Liberty of the Seas. $850 is an amazing price! We paid $1900 for 4 of us, but that’s for 7 nights, balcony room and I got the insurance. Have a super fun time!!
