Hello Everyone!

I have never been to Tampa, but for the past 10-12 years I have had friends who have moved there or visited that implored me to check it out. They say I would really like it. I did my usual YouTube video check to see what all the hoopla was about and I must admit, the city looks nice! However, I lived in Florida once before (Daytona Beach...don't ask!) and left. I also spent time (as a visitor, not a resident) in Miami which I loved! (I know, that city is not representative of...well, any part of Florida!) However, nowadays if I glance at the news, something about Tampa is on, if I look at an advertisement online somehow information about Tampa appears, when talking to my friends in other states guess what happens? Yep, they mention Tampa! What the heck?

I am now contemplating if it's worthwhile to finally make a trip to see for myself? My question is when is the best time of year to visit?

February - April is probably best. That’s the driest part of the year and it isn’t too hot yet. The only downside, which may be a big one, is the water is cold that time of year so if you plan on swimming September or October is probably a better time to come.

Thanks for the advice. I love being near the water, but not necessarily getting in it!! Of course, when I was in Miami I'm neck-deep in the water because it's so nice. Is September -October your hurricane season?

Yes, the gulf tends to get later season storms in October.

You will like the Tampa Bay area I think. Hurricane Season is June 1st and ends Dec.1st. More hurricanes are in Sept, You have to like humidity, the rainy season, the ocean (the bay) lush greenery, great sport teams, no snow and nice people overall. Better choice IMO then the east coast of Florida.

Tampa! I can't seem to shake you!!!!
A few weeks ago, I flew from Maryland to Florida to escort my son to a soccer camp in Bradenton. I had some time to kill before leaving, so I went into Tampa to check it out. And I was really impressed with their downtown. It felt lively, and vibrant, and more urban (in a good way) than I was expecting. And when it came time to depart, well, I think that Tampa's airport is one of the best in the country. Anyway, when the camp was done, I flew back to Tampa to retrieve my son. We flew out of Sarasota, and we didn't like their airport as much. "We should have flown out of Tampa," my son kept saying. It didn't help that our flight was delayed. "This wouldn't have happened in Tampa," he claimed, and I didn't have the heart to tell him that Tampa may have experienced a delayed flight or two during its history. In any case, back home, I find out that my assistant boss is retiring to Florida. I asked her which part, and she said Tampa. All of this is totally, completely true.

So, yeah, I kind of see what you mean.

That's exactly what I mean! Glad you got to experience it.
