1) Florida is a remote state, being a very large peninsula.

2) The Tampa/St Pete/Clearwater area, outside of that, is quite remote. As the west coast is far less populated than the east coast. And since driving out of Tampa takes such a long time, people aren't really encouraged to go too far outside of that metro area.

So combining 1 and 2, Tampa is basically a remote area within a remote area.

Point 2 could be made about most cities. However, in terms of an urban area Tampa is nearly connected with Orlando and Sarasota at this point so it isn’t really remote. If you want to call out a city for being remote, you should have chosen Key West.

Google estimates Tampa to Orlando to be 1h24m, which wouldn't be that bad. But you have to be lucky with traffic. Realistically, it's probably closer to 2 hours than 1.

It could take you 30-35 minutes just to get to Brandon.

I make the drive to and from Orlando every Friday afternoon, and Sunday evening and/or Monday morning. It's 1.5 hours from downtown to downtown. And there are several fairly large towns in between.

Same with going South of Tampa. There's St-Pete, Bradenton, Sarasota, Port Charlotte, Fort Myers.........

What is this thread?

The Tampa Bay metro area is the second largest in FL and 16th largest in the US. Nothing about that says remote...smdh.

One of many started by the OP similar to this one about gated communities.

It adds a cost to your HOA.

It even adds an extra step for you to enter your own house. Part of owning a house should feel like you can come and go as you please with no one else's permission. As an analogy, it feels like paying for software yet still having to endure the extreme anti-piracy DRM measures.

OP, as a wise woman (Dr. Jennifer Melfi, ala The Sopranos) once said..

discontinue the lithium.

What a pointless and ridiculous thread.
