We are young couple comming from ny and going to work in Sarasota. We woudlike to live in St petersburg and commute there. Anyone doing that commute? Any idea about the traffic. We need to be in sarasota by 9am and leave around 6-6.30 pm. We don't mind the hour commute that's what we are doing in ny anyway .

When I lived in St. Pete, I found it easy to communte from St. Pete to Tampa or across the Skyway to Bradenton or Sarasota. It's not mad crazy like trying to drive anywhere in Tampa. I-275 is very quick. Of course, gas wasn't $4 per gallon then, but if you can swing it and don't mind it isn't bad.

I think you will be fine since you will be going against the traffic. Probably under an hour depending on your exact start and finish destinations.
