Has anyone had trouble with their tv after the cable box has been removed or during having the box?? I have a 3 year old 38" Sony Wega flat screen that "now" won't work unless I reset it every time I want to use it. When I do turn it on it goes on stand by until I reset it (with no picture). Then I have to reset it to the factory default which only allows the first 12 channels to be viewed. Then, I have to go thru each indididual channel to access the channels I want. Any suggestions???

I never had any problems with the tv before.

The reason I canceled the box with BH is because it never worked properly. Having to have service calls.

thx

make sure your tv is plugged into an AC outlet that does not get turned off. Go through the menu of your Sony and have it scan for any channels available. Usually setup option. Once that is done, it should not 'forget' these channels unless the electricity goes out for longer than ~6 hours.
If your Sony has a blinking 'standby' light that just keeps blinking, and won't turn on, Im afraid that is the start of a TV issue.

We have a Sony TV but not the same model as yours. We had it do a few weird things similar to what you describe. My hubby did some online research and apparently, at least for our tv model, this tends to be a problem. Not a good sign. I can't blame the cable company, as I live in TX...no brighthouse here.

I never had any problems with any of my cable boxes and/or my tv while having Bright House. I did sell my Sony tv since I had issues with the colors since the beginning. Something with a color cross (red and blue....) that you had to set and at one point the only colors I had were red and blue. I sold it and disclosed the issue which was very well explained on many websites as being an issue with a Sony tv. I always had Philips tv's and never had an issue with them..I hope you can somve the issue although I can't help you. Sorry, but to me Bright House is great as long as they won't raise their prices.

I had a sony 36" Trinitron model from 10 yrs back. I worked as a cable repair tech for 8 years with Time Warner to see all the differing brands do their own unique things. My Sony began to suffer longer and longer startup times, standby light just flashed. I have seen the same problem on newer, flat screen Wegas.
I wanted a new flat screen so I didn't research this to any degree. I'm certain it is just a little part of the TV, particular to Sony, that prevents it from turning on. One component or switch, internal. After all, once the tube is playing it looks normal, doesn't it?
Some things are purposefully not meant to last forever.
I have a 42" Bravia now. I just hope it lasts as long as my Trinitron did. But I suspect after the third year, something will falter.
