My husband and I are interested in suburbs of Tampa that would allow a fairly easy commute to the airport. Neither one of us has to commute into the city for work, so that is not an issue. We're looking for an area with nice neighborhoods, safe, etc. Thanks!

Default Airport

The Veteran's Expressway/Suncoast Parkway allows easy access to the airport from a number of cities/towns north of Tampa. Land O' Lakes/Lutz and Odessa are growing family areas, and if you are looking for a more "retirement" lifestyle, Hernando County--Spring Hill/Brooksville, or even Citrus County--Crystal River/Inverness aren't out of reach of the airport.

If you're looking for "New York South" try Hudson/Port Richey/NewPort Richey/Trinity to the northwest.

Good luck with your search. All the places I mentioned are lovely. You will get more house for your money the farther north you venture, but traffic is an issue almost anywhere due to growth.

We were in Land O Lakes, which had good access to either I-75 or the Suncoast Parkway for good airport access. We used to go down to the Port, too, for cruises. It's a nice area because it's out of the busyness but not too far out there like Springhill and other points north.

We live in Land O Lakes just East of the Suncoast Parkway. Gator Girl hits the nail on the head on this one!

Land O' Lakes is a great community. It has the best schools in Pasco County - but overcrowded. Not a bad commute to the airport - about 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. There are some decent chain restaraunts in addition to some quaint family owned ones.

My husband has to travel to the airport about once or twice a week and we will just bought in Spring Hill. He has made the commute already a couple of times and says its not that bad at all. Mostly highway driving depending on where you are coming from.

Tampa Airport, I would look in Citrus Park Area, I love their new large Mall.
It would be great easy ride for him.
