Hello Tampa relocation experts. I need some assistance, please. We are in the process of relocating to Florida and I'm overwhelmed not knowing the area.

Where is your employment and the hours you will be working.
Husband - military @ MacDill and I'll be in healthcare

What is your budget for housing. Do you want to rent or buy?
Rental 2200k max, 3+ (4 would be nice), 2+, spacious, open floor plan, considering pool not necessary, nice landscaping

Are schools a concern? Yes, daycare (2 yr old) and prek (4) yr old

What is an acceptable commute time?
45 - 50 min
What else is important to you?
Family oriented environment, but we don't want to feel like we live on base and everyone knows your business. We're friendly, but enjoy our privacy too. Community amenities - pool, play ground, planned activities a plus, sidewalks, walking trails would be a +. Accessible to interstate, convenient to dining, shopping, grocer, church, school, health care, etc. Community pride where even rentals don't shout - there are renters living in here! Multi ethnic would be great.

You'll find a ton of nice homes at or under your price ceiling.

Lots of folks at MacDill choose to live in Brandon or Riverview. Plenty of newer, good condition pool (or pool community) homes over there, and at least somewhat convenient thanks to the Selmon Expressway.

Or you could try to find something in old NE St. Pete and your husband could commute across the Gandy bridge.

As far as healthcare, are you a nurse? There's a nursing shortage down here so there are tons of jobs available. My wife found one with minimal searching and was hired before we even moved to FL.

The two areas you mentioned are ones in which I have several homes to look at it. I'm not too familiar with Old NE St. Pete, but we are open to options at this point. He says as long as the commute is not more than 50 min or so he'll be fine.

Healthcare, yes, nurse, no. Everyone has a shortage for that seems like. I'm a RD and it seems the area is saturated with us. I have an interview soon in the area so we'll see what happens with that as well.

Thank you for your input.
