Good idea!! The problem is, how do I find out which of those banks are hiring?

Why is working in downtown so important? Did you live in a big city and now miss it and downtown Tampa reminds you of it? Here is my advice, try to apply to companies that may be located elsewhere but have their main branch in downtown. That way you can always try to transfer from within. I hotel would be an excellent choice.

I'd recommend just printing a ton of resumes, and then visiting a few of the high-rise buildings and dropping them off at each office. You might also try checking with the building staff (greeter, information desk, etc.)

Check the bank websites that have a branch downtown. Many ppl don't want to work downtown because of parking. The branch I worked at eons ago had their own parking. It can get expensive if you have to pay for parking.

My xDIL works downtown at a restaurant and makes pretty good money for the hours she works.

Well, I guess it's because I just loved the atmosphere of it. I can't explain it. I just felt like I belonged there. It sounds really silly, I know, lol. But I was very happy when I was there.

That's an excellent idea. I think I'll do exactly that. Thank you for the advice!

That's a great idea as well. I'll definitely check out the bank websites.

I can relate as there is something about working downtown that is just different. You meet all kinds of ppl during lunch, not just the ppl you work with everyday. I met a Secret Service guy who use to guard the president as an example. Just in passing but there are always interesting ppl around.

The biggest problem is the parking, if you have to pay for parking it can make your paycheck much smaller.

Exactly. I guess I just love working in places that are full of life and activity. If I could never work in downtown ever again, the next best place I would love to work at would be in the West Shore business district. I think that's the closest thing that would give me the same feeling that downtown did. When I worked in downtown in 2006, the Suntrust building had free (but crappy) parking with it. But it was free so I really couldn't complain about that, lol.
