I live in Carrollwood area now in a 2/2. I need to move into a 3/2. My problem is I can't find a decent apartment for under $1000 a month and I can't afford that. I have 2 young children and I do not want to live in a high crime area. I looked at an apartment complex called Summit West yesterday and I really love the apartment. Its villa style living, so I wouldn't have upstairs neighbors which is a great bonus. The downfall is that it is in Temple Terrace at Fowler and 56th st. Does anyone know the complex and what its generally like, or can suggest any other apartments in the carrollwood, temple terrace, Tampa Palms, New Tampa area? Thanks in advance for any help!

I lived in Summit West from 1999 - 2003. At that time there were a lot of troublesome kids around the area. I caught a bunch smashing up my pumpkin one Halloween. Then I had my car stolen when it was parked literally at my front door (though they did bring it back to the other side of the complex). I'm not sure if it's been "cleaned up" or not.
Sorry, I don't know of anywhere close to Carrolwood. I live in Seffner now in a 3/1.5 townhouse for 900/month. There's plenty of crime around here too, but that's a downside to living in an inexpensive area.
