I was wondering if anyone could recommend a female gyno, that you've had a good experience with. I was using a nurse practitioner at the office of Romeo Acosta, but she has since left (and I wasn't as pleased with the male gyno's thoroughness [or lack thereof] of the breast exam).

I prefer it to be in north St. Pete, but I'm willing to travel within the city for the right Dr. or nurse practitioner.

Thanks.

-Erin

Out of 20 reads, no one can recommend anyone? C'mon guys, please?

I have an ovarian cyst, and I'd like to get it looked at. I fear I may have another one developing on my other ovary. And yes, it/they does/do cause quite a bit of pain. Pretty scary.

I'd really appreciate any recommendation (in St. Pete) at this point - male or female, as long as they're thorough, and have good bed-side manner.

Before any doctor wants to perform surgery, I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Anna Parsons at Tampa General. She is an OB that only does ultrasounds. I had a doctor who wanted to do a total hysterectomy due to possible endometriosis and an ovarian cyst. Dr. Parsons did such a thorough ultrasound that she found my "endometriosis" was actually an infection deep inside the uterus. She monitored the ovarian cyst, which disappeared after my second ultrasound with her.

I know you said St. Pete, but it is worth the trip in. Dr. Parsons is top in her field and has serveral machines to perform the best ultrasounds. She had me on one machine, then decided to switch rooms and machines for a different view.

I have had ovarains cysts removed when I was 17 and placed on birth control pills for 11 years. I took myself off (with doctors approval). I have had cysts come and go.

This doctor sounds like a winner to me.
The same thing happened to me a while ago with a mamography. My family dr. sent me to a Susan Koeller institute, which is part of Mease Clearwater Hospital and they did some additional testings there and told me I was perfectly fine.
Makes you wonder what some physicians are up to.

Thank you both VERY VERY much.

I'll call both offices and talk to the staff.

I really appreciate it

Dr. Parsons only sees people after they have been to the regular ob/gyn as a referal to her office. She does not do regular examinations.

P.S. are you from New Jersey? We moved down from Fair Lawn, NJ 4 years ago.

Okay, thanks for the heads up .

I'm not, but I've spent a bit of time in West Orange and that area. I'm originally from Michigan, and have been here in FL for the past 10 years.

Do you like it here?

Not particularly. I wish I could go back to NJ. Maybe I would like it better if I had family down here. My husband lost his job and we would loose close to 100,000 if we sold our house today. So we are stuck here. I love the winters, though.

How about you? You like it here?
