I thought I'd start a list of nice towns where you can get a nice home for starting at around $150,000.

in Pasco County, which is Central West coast of FL (nearest cities are Tampa, Clearwater, St Pete)

nice towns that have nice homes in nice family neighborhoods fstarting at around $150,000 are:

Holiday, FL (this is where I live)
New Port Richey, FL

If you want to spend a little more for a super duper nice home, then check out Trinity, FL (Pasco County also)

How big are the houses and lot for $150k? Maybe my brother might be interested. Prices should be significently lower by then because of the hurricanes.

How long of a commute during rush hour would these be from downtown Tampa and/or do these communities offer a job market to speak of?

Default Are these walkable communities?

I'm looking for a community where I could walk to the library, community swimming pool, and grocery without CDD fees. Are any of these communities like this? Thanks!

Default New Port Richey

Those are great areas for homes in that price range, I agree. Hard to find that price in surrounding counties or areas, isn't it, lol.

Got a great totally remodeled home on the market now in New Port Richey, offered just under 150k, now that is a deal, lol

"nice town"? Gee I live in New Port Richey and can't wait to get the heck out of here!

I went to the library in Holiday...quite different from what i was used to on Long Island (New York). On LI, the library was a place to go, with a fireplace and cafe, to sit in comfy couches and chairs and read the latest magazines, newspapers, peruse books while sipping a latte and nibbling on a home made blueberry muffin. They had a great dvd/video department, computers for use, classes, and three floors of books, books, books! It was heaven. The library I went to in Holiday...(sigh)...one big room with some books. No fireplace, no comfy chairs, no magazines, no videos/dvd's. Just some tables and chairs. I guess if I were a sixth grader doing a book report, it would be just fine.

There are a few nice houses downtown by the riverside. The rest of the area seems to be trailers with broken down jalopies where the lawn is supposed to be, and topless bar after used car lot after topless bar after check cashing place after topless bar. Homeless people gathered on the median of that hideous Rte. 19.

There are about 30 units for sale in my condo development, including mine. Most have been on the market for over a year. The only jobs around here pay about $8.00/hr.

Welcome to New Port Richey!

Actually, Holiday and surrounding towns should be a lot less than $150,000. Houses that list for $150,000 rent for $1000-1100. That is a multiple of 130-150.

The multiple for this area should be 100-110. These houses should be going for $110000-120000.

The median household income for Holiday is about $34,000. That also supports housing prices closer to $100,000 than to $150,000.

Nothing about Holiday supports prices at $150,000....no matter how good that sounds in this silly market. Also, there are close to 1000 properties on the market in Holiday when you include the for sale by owners.

You can find many 2/2 i car homes, for under $100,000 in the Port richey area, and prices are falling thanks to super high HOI.
