Moving anywhere is not an option for me, since I have pets. I will NOT get rid of them. Furthermore when you are destitute, like I am, you CAN'T move. You have to pay out of pocket for any moving expenses as a teacher. It's a major expense for me to travel even 50 miles in one direction.

My sister had to shell out some 2,000 dollars recently to help me move my belongings from Reno, Nevada, to Medford, Oregon, because I could not afford to do even that.

There are also age restrictions in some of these overseas programs.

Don't assume anybody can just pack up and move, and why in the hell should I have to in order to get a job? I already HAD to move because I was left destitute when a school district illegally fired me. The districts there are counties, not municipalities, so I HAD to move.
How much you spend depends entirely upon how you move. I understand that in the states no district will pay for your move. If you travel light, it can be done relatively cheaply, though. If you're hauling a lifetime's worth of crap around the country, then sure, it'll cost more.

Yes, some countries won't hire older teachers, preferring younger, more malleable (and cheaper) educators. Most will, though, unto a point. If you're over sixty, then your chances of securing a position overseas drop somewhat. It could still be done in many locations, though, and many of them will pay your way there.

As to the rest of your post, I can only say that it sounds like you're having a tough time of it. Hard times call for hard decisions. Perhaps you could place your pets with a trusted friend for a while. Maybe you could get rid of some stuff, pare down your belongings, though if you're truly destitute, then you probably don't have many things anyway. Bottom line - lose the pets, stow the ego, tighten the belt, set the jaw, and get on with life. We've all had to do it.

Buena suerte.
